We exist to empower marginalized communities to become healthy and self-sustaining.

We believe that justice and empowerment is an important way of expressing our Christian spirituality.

Partnering with Grass-Roots Organizations

We have discovered that partnerships with existing organizations who are already doing good work is much more effective than trying to import non-indigenous ideas to solve complex problems.  This allows us to create systems that will help them become self-sustaining.

We see the scourge of poverty as multi-faceted and systemic and therefore needing a multi-faceted response: economic, social, physical, educational, psychological, and spiritual.

Gate OneSeventeen is a small and lean organization that boasts one of the lowest overhead costs in our industry.  We are proud of what we have been able to do on a shoe string budget that focuses on long term sustainability rather than short term fixes.
